Doctoral and Master’s students in counseling, clinical psychology, social work or a related program are invited to gain experience through a nine month practicum training program at Tuttleman Counseling Services. We are dedicated to providing a high quality clinical experience in a multicultural setting, serving a student population of richly diverse ethnic, racial, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Practicum students spend a minimum of two and one-half full days per week at Tuttleman Counseling Services but may contract for more hours if required by their educational institution. Time is devoted to counseling students, receiving supervision individually and in groups, and accepting responsibility for essential administrative work such as record keeping and scheduling. Opportunities are also available to conduct group therapy.

Trainees receive two hours of individual supervision and 90 minutes of group supervision weekly. Senior staff is readily available for additional, informal consultation and supervision when needed. Trainees also participate in a weekly case conference. Periodically, trainees are offered seminars led by Tuttleman Counseling Services staff and by invited speakers. Topics may include multicultural issues in counseling, psychopharmacology, critical incident stress management (CISM), treatment of addictions, anxiety, eating disorders, and more.
