Our Approach

The CASA unit adopts what is called a “harm-reduction” approach to treatment.  We work to help students create their own goals for treatment, to gain a better understanding of their alcohol/substance use and/or other addictive behaviors, to identify the impact of these concerns on their lives, and ultimately to reduce risk or potential harm related to their alcohol/substance use and/or other addictive behaviors.  An individual’s goals for treatment can range anywhere from reducing one’s substance use or behaviors of concern to abstinence.  If you have concerns about your alcohol/substance use or other addictive behaviors (or if you are concerned about a family member or friend), we are here to help.  Additional information is available through the Self-Help Center section of this website.
