The Resiliency Resource Center has two physical locations on campus. The first location is housed within Tuttleman Counseling Services. The address is:
Location: 1700 N. Broad St., 2nd floor, Room 205
The Resiliency Resource Center (RRC) at Tuttleman Counseling Services is physical space available to students who have registered for TCS services and who are referred by a TCS clinician. Several resources are available to help address issues of anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, executive functioning, mindfulness, stress management as well as many other mental health concerns. The RRC currently offers in-person services during Fall, Spring, and summer semesters.
The second physical location is housed within the Christopher and Julie Barnett Essential Needs Hub in the Howard Gittis Student Center.
Location: (Lower Level) 1755 N. 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122
The Resiliency Resource Center at the Essential Needs Hub is a walk-in only resource available to all Temple students without an appointment. Several resources related to mindfulness, time management and self-care are available to help cultivate a student's success.
Both Resiliency Resource Center locations serve as a mental health library, offering various resources including books, workbooks, biofeedback devices, bright light therapy, cranial electrotherapy stimulation, massage chairs, and therapeutic art making resources.
Undergraduate psychology, art therapy, and social work interns (also known as Peer Resiliency Educators) are available to assist with location and operation of materials.
Students can take a RRC T.O.U.R. at either location as an orientation to the space and its resources while giving them a chance to "Try Out Useful Resources." FAQs
Do I need to be in therapy to access the RRC?
No, all Temple students may access the RRC located at the Essential Needs Hub. There is no registration or appointments required—walk-in only.
However, students do need to be registered with TCS to access the RRC located in Tuttleman Counseling Services. In the registration process students can discuss next steps for services they want to access. Some students engage in individual or group therapy, psychiatry, or may even have their own therapist outside of TCS. Whether in therapy or not, students can use the RRC to help work toward some of their mental health goals or be a complimentary service to therapy.
When can it be accessed?
Students can access the RRC during the Fall and Spring semesters, Monday through Friday 10 am-4pm at Tuttleman Counseling Services and 10 am-5pm at the Essential Needs Hub. After students have an RRC T.O.U.R., they can have Visits to the RRC and use it throughout the semester.
Popular resources?
Recently, students have really been enjoying our full body massage chair (some use aromatherapy while relaxing). We have had some devices for over 10 years such as biofeedback, cranial electrotherapy stimulation, and bright light therapy. A popular device is the MUSE Brainsensing Headband that can help students improve their relationships to the mind, body, heart, and breath through various meditation trainings and biofeedback. Students also have been tapping into their creativity and stress management of the therapeutic art making spaces, and other resources in the RRC.
Who staffs the RRC?
Undergraduate Psychology and Art Therapy students, known as Peer Resiliency Educators, are trained and available to assist with access and use of the resources and workshops in the RRC. They are supervised by the Assistant Coordinator and Coordinator of the RRC.
*Students interested in the Peer Resiliency Educator internship can expect for applications to open for the Spring semesters in mid-September and for Fall Semesters in mid-February. Please note, the internship is unpaid.
